1. What is the difference between Low Density and High Density?

High Density film is made from High Molecular, High Density Polyethylene. This extremely durable and flexible material allows our food storage bags to be frozen to -50° F and then heated up to +220° F. This allows food to be taken directly from the freezer to microwave or boiling water, steamers, or warmers without freezer burn. This feature eliminates the need to repackage or transfer foods. High Density bags prolong product freshness and extend product shelf life in coolers and freezers.These bags are perfect for storing and keeping prepared salads fresh in a cooler. Keeps individually wrapped breads, sandwiches, and hamburgers tasting fresher right out of the warmer.

220°F Steam Pan Liners (SPL)

Recommended for use in the kitchen, buffet lines and/or in cafeteria pans that hold all types of foods. Excellent in crock pots or steam pans for those hard-to-clean foods like cheese sauces, dipping sauces, hot syrups, toppings like fudge and caramel, soups, and gravies.
  • Perfect for steam table warmers, food warmers, crock pots, and soup pots.
  • Maximum temperature of 220°F, NOT designed for use in ovens.


400°F Ovenable Pan Liners (OPL) and Ovenable Roasting Bags (ORB)

Cook, bake, and roast up to 400°F. Safe to go directly from freezer to microwave, steam table, crock pot, or oven. Eliminates labour intensive jobs like scrubbing and soaking baked-on foods.
  • Closeable, self-basting roasting bags (ORBs) are great for poultry, meats, pasta, vegetables, and fish.
  • Non-closable ovenable pan liners (OPLs) are ideal for baking, warming, transporting, and serving.
  • Domestically made of high temperature nylon, bags are safe to use up to 400°F.


3. What are the differences between Food Service Grade Gloves and Examination (Exam) Grade Gloves?

Food Service Gloves

General-purpose gloves are accepted (but not “approved” or “certified”) for use in foodservice, industrial, or any other application that does not require a specific barrier to blood or infectious agents. This is the most common glove found in the marketplace and popular uses include foodservice, packaging, automotive, painting, and the health & beauty industry.

General-purpose gloves are, in fact, exam grade gloves that did not pass FDA mandated quality control tests (e.g. FDA water leak testing). While no one intentionally manufactures a general-purpose glove, our gloves are manufactured as medical grade gloves, yet do not undergo the final steps of the FDA testing process. This give Handgards gloves a near-exam level of quality. This process of taking near-exam quality gloves off the medical grade lines is sometimes referred to as “off-line” production. This means that the gloves are “stripped” from the medical grade production lines, then “packed” just before they undergo the final FDA testing process. What differentiates the gloves is a higher “AQL” (acceptable Quality Level-FDA benchmark for rejection rates) than “B” or “C” grade gloves. Handgards gloves have an AQL of 2.5% - 4.0%, meaning a medical grade rejection rate of only 2 – 4 gloves per hundred.

Examination (Exam) Gloves

Examination or Medical-grade gloves differ from Industrial grade gloves in that they are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and are accepted for use by doctors, dentists, labs, or any other application requiring a specific barrier to blood or infectious agents. These gloves are non-surgical, non-sterile, and are regulated by stringent FDA requirements mandating specific production and quality control standards (detailed in FDA 510(k) Class II Medical Device Listing).
