Strategic Partnering
For more than four years now, Green Bay Packaging has been the sole source of corrugate and chipboard packaging for all of Handgards domestic product lines. GBP has gone to great lengths in protecting our natural resources with their environmental stewardship programs such as Air and Water Pollution Abatement Efforts and Trees for Tomorrow. Streamline Shipping
Last year, Handgards increased the minimum shipment weight for prepaid freight. Not only has this enabled us to maximize our warehouse turns but has also reduced the number of trucks on the road – Estimated impact: 100 trucks off the road per year! |

Packaging Reductions
We have recently begun a company wide initiative to reduce our corrugate packaging. With the help of our partner Green Bay Packaging, we have reduced our corrugate by 40% on two product lines, with a third in the works. Amazingly, by reducing our packaging on only two product lines, we have managed to save over 1,100 trees annually! This is the equivalent of saving 69 metric tons of carbon dioxide! |
Energy Reduction
By implementing lean manufacturing practices we have been able to nearly eliminate our third shift and still remain as the only domestic producer of Poly Gloves! We are also looking into the possibilities of using alternative energy sources, such as solar paneling. |

Reuse of Scrap
A certain amount of “scrap” or film is to be expected when making poly gloves. Think of it as making cookies with a cookie cutter, you always have left over dough. Poly gloves are no different. Opposed to throwing away this left over film, Handgards has the capabilities of reusing it! Film is placed in a ‘grinder’, returned to its original resin state, and placed back through the extrusion process. Many of our poly gloves are made from poly scrap! |
The Future
We are constantly refactoring and finding new ways to become eco-friendly.
